Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) Injury
We have surgical equipment to perform the Modified Maquet Procedure or MMP for dogs that have sustained a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injury. This relatively new technique has been very successful so far in providing earlier use of the affected leg following surgery. A titanium foam wedge is used to change the conformation of the tibia which reduces the pain associated with using the leg when the CCL has been torn. We are offering this operation to all dogs that have sustained a CCL injury from 5 to 60kg.
We offer 'Keyhole' spays for quick and comfortable recovery
A laparoscopic or keyhole spay in the female dog is the term used to describe the procedure of sterilisation using a minimally invasive or keyhole technique. When the operation is carried out using laparoscopy, only the ovaries are removed (ovariectomy) Traditional “open” surgery involves removal of the ovaries and uterus (ovariohysterectomy).
Digital xray processor
Our digital xray processor enables us to store xray images with a pets computer record speeding up access to images. We can also show owners details of their pets xray in much greater detail than before.
We are now more environmentally friendly as we no longer need to store potentially hazardous chemicals which are used in the processing of xray film.
Ethicon Gen11 machine
We have an Ethicon Gen11 machine. This equipment allows us to use 2 different types of handpiece for performing advanced soft tissue procedures such as laparoscopic speys in dogs and faster, safer cutting of blood vessels in more general surgery. In a recent operation to remove a diseased spleen, the surgical time was halved and the blood vessels were more effectively sealed.
